The annual Women & Power Conference: "Our Time to Lead," held at the Sheraton and sponsored by the holistic, educational Omega Institute and V-Day, drew a mixed crowd of entertainers and activists. Participants including Institute faculty members Debra Winger and Rosario Dawson discussed how women can change the world-from the inside out, focusing on issues ranging from personal empowerment and health and wellness to ending violence against women. Keynote speakers included Vagina Monologues playwright Eve Ensler, Gloria Steinem, Jane Fonda, and women from the war-torn countries of Afghanistan and Iraq. Ensler, founder of V-Day (Victory/Valentine/Vagina-Day), a global movement to stop worldwide violence against women and girls, also filled the role of moderator/interviewer opposite PBS Prez and CEO Pat Mitchell, Sally Field, Susan Sarandon, Julia Stiles, and Lifetime's CEO Carole Black. The three-day conference proved there's strength-and beauty-in numbers!
