Golf enthusiasts hit the links beneath the clear Palm Beach sky at the annual Jay Robert Lauer Golf Tournament at The Breakers. More than 200 participants raised nearly $325,000 for Hospice of Palm Beach County (HPBC), whose mission is to care for those nearing the end of life. The weekend-long event is named after the late father of NBC’s Today co-anchor Matt Lauer. HPBC workers cared for the elder Lauer during his battle with lung cancer, in the last few months of his life.
On the green: Golf pros Greg Norman and Bruce Fleisher, Jimmy Buffett, and Bryant Gumbel of HBO’s Real Sports. The ultra-chic post-tournament Zegna Par-Tee, hosted by menswear designer Ermenegildo Zegna, drew more than 500 guests, including: political cartoonist Paul Szep and Zegna fashion director Djordje Stefanovic. A silent auction included a chance to bid on a practice weekend with the Florida Marlins and a meal cooked in a lucky bidder’s home by the chef of Café Boulud in Palm Beach. All par for the course!
