Dana and Christopher Reeve, Meryl Streep

Helen Hunt hosted the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation’s “A Magical Evening” at the Waldorf ballroom, which worked its own magic with soft pink, blue, and white lights, tables adorned with white orchids and candles, entwined neon light sticks, tiny mirrored balls in glass cases, and fireballs of foliage suspended in midair. The place was so packed, the stage and balcony were used to accommodate the guests, which included dinner chairs Francine LeFrak and Rick Friedberg, honoree L. Dennis Kozlowski (Tyco International’s CEO), Jonathan Farkas and Somers White, and Joy Rosenthal and Ike Tawil. Reeve took the spotlight to speak about his Foundation, as well as cutting-edge research—including lab mice fed spinach and blueberries as a possible combo for spinal-cord regeneration! “We have a hard time dealing with the unknown,” Reeve said. “But by your presence, you show that you believe.”
