The Careers Through Culinary Arts Program (C-CAP) cooked up their fourth annual benefit at Pier Sixty to honor Jacques Pepin (author of two groundbreaking cookbooks, La Technique and La Methode) for his unique contribution to the food industry and his support of C-CAP. Guests sampled spring delicacies from dozens of New York’s top restaurants, and the who’s who of Manhattan culinary stars included restaurateur Drew Nieporent, Le Cirque’s Pierre Schaedelin, Windows on the World’s Michael Lomonaco (who survived 9/11), Payard’s Philippe Bertineau, Patroon’s Craig Cupani, Olive’s Todd English, Mesa Grill’s Bobby Flay, Aureole’s Gerry Hayden, Aquavit’s Marcus Samuelsson, and Monkey Bar’s David Walzog.

Billy Baldwin came out for the cause and told The Sheet that he’s hard at work on screenplays and is “waiting to hear back on some independent films.” Billy’s become a big fan of Connecticut, opting for a spread there over the Hamptons, not that he doesn’t miss his old stomping ground: “I loved the beaches of the Hamptons. Even if I didn’t get to the beach, knowing the water was there was reassuring.” (He also has digs in Santa Monica, California, and two apartments on New York’s Upper West Side.) Why his new love for Connecticut? For his “horses, dog, nannies, wife, and kids,” of course. He named his four-month-old son Vance after his music hero Van Morrison, and joked about naming his two-year-old daughter Jameson after the whiskey brand. Also scarfing up the delectable fare: NBC’s Jane Hanson, Maurice Dubois, Joe Witte, editor-in-chief of Bon Appetit Barbara Fairchild, and C-CAP founder and prez Richard Grausman. C-CAP’s mission is to nurture and train the next generation of culinary stars.
