Legendary songstress Diahann Carroll dazzled on her opening-night return engagement at Feinstein's at the Regency. Her spectacular performance was a hit with a tony crowd, which included Amy Fine Collins, Barbara de Portago, Rex Reed, Catherine Saxton, Eileen Fulton, Susan Fales-Hill, and Carol Mack.

Between medleys, Carroll disclosed her youthful age of 72 and said, "The two things that give me the most happiness in my life at this time are my grandchildren and performing ... and if you don't have any grandchildren, rent them, find them, or borrow them ... there's nothing like it." The four-time-married diva then said, "I was engaged here in this hotel ... once on the 10th floor and once on the 7th floor."
