The phrase “party of choice” takes on new meaning at least once a year — for the high-powered politicians and attendees of the New York Reception and Dinner “Parties of Your Choice.” The event is hosted by the Women’s Campaign Fund (WCF), dedicated to electing pro-choice women to public of.ce and to the preservation of Roe v. Wade, the landmark decision that legalized abortion.

The pre-dinner reception at the uptown private club Fizz honored four of the six new pro-choice women elected to Congress in 2004: Rep. Melissa Bean (IL), Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL), Rep. Stephanie Herseth (SD), and Rep. Allyson Schwartz (PA). Also in attendance: Andrew Cuomo, campaigning for the 2006 election for New York Attorney General.

Post-reception guests included: Richard Meier, Cindy Adams, Donna Hanover, Andy Rooney, and Diana Taylor, who dispersed to twelve different previously selected dinners scattered around the city. The Sheet scored an invite to real estate mogul Barbara Corcoran’s Park Ave. abode for conversation and a sumptuous meal by Strip House’s David Walzog. Seated at our table: Rep. Jerry Nadler (NY), Rep. Anthony Weiner (NY), and John and Margo Catsimatidis, among others. When The Sheet asked “mayoral wannabe” Weiner where he lived, he proudly replied, “Queens.” Response: “Our condolences!” and then we helpfully suggested that there should be a mayor for each borough, similar to the division of power in the Hamptons. Weiner’s droll response, “Oh, you’re probably for Bloomberg.”

Astrologist Susan Miller then enlightened guests on the “cycles” of life. This prompted our host, Corcoran, to chime in with a personal tidbit of her own. “I think I’ve left my menstrual cycle,” she quipped. It was her choice to share....
