Over 60 spirited guests gathered at the ‘21’ Club for a lively, Greek isle-style dinner celebration hosted by the Hellenic Times newspaper and owners Margo and John Catsimatidis. (John is also the chairman and CEO of the Red Apple Group, which includes the Gristedes supermarkets and United Refining Company.) The evening paid tribute to the contributions of Emmy Award-winning news anchor Ernie Anastos (soon to leave WCBS/Ch. 2 and head to WNYW/Ch. 5) and Cyprus-born Anna Vissi, Greece’s #1 singer, to the Hellenic Times Scholarship Fund. The Fund (which awards over $100,000 in college scholarships annually to Greek-American students) was founded by Nick Katsoris, Margo, and John. Known internationally as “The Goddess,” Vissi performed her chart-topping single, “Call Me,” as well as “Train,” which brought many of the high-powered, energized guests to their feet to boogie along with the singer! The partying throng included: Patricia Field, Rita Cosby, Amb. Charles Gargano, WABC radio’s Mark Simone, Spiros and Antonia Milonas, Robert and Nana Wolf, Peter Castro, Rich Issacson, Gil and Charlene Haroche, Yanni Kiskini, and Georgia and Tommy Kontagianis. Stay tuned for the write up on the big bash in our July issue. It was a “21-fun salute!”
