New mommy Sheri Jedell

"Think Pink” was the oh-so-socially-conscious theme at the over-the-top baby shower held for Douglas Elliman realtor Sheri Jedell, new mommy-to-be of the then eagerly expected “Emily-Reese” (born March 30; 7 lbs., 7 oz.). The celebration was hosted by Andrea Stark, Cynthia Maltese, and Denise Wohl at Stark’s fab new duplex on the Upper East Side. Friends of Sheri and her mom, The Sheet’s editor-in-chief, enjoyed the lavish, high-ceilinged spread and its breathtaking 360-degree views of the NYC skyline, particularly spectacular from the 8,000-ft. wraparound terrace. The posh Louis-XV-meets-Karl-Springer interior was designed by Jeffrey Bilhuber.

Well-wishers were greeted with champagne (in baby bottles!) and were encouraged to wear the familiar pink-bowed ribbons, all part of the Think Pink theme, emphasizing the importance — for all the little Emily-Reeses of the future—of finding a cure for breast cancer, and giving a supportive nod to Evelyn Lauder’s Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

The pièce de résistance: an exquisite, cellophane-wrapped, pink-beribboned Baby Shower Diaper “Cake” (à la HBO’s Sex and the City)—four tiers of practical baby gifts (including diapers, bibs, pacifiers, bottles, shoes, socks, and more). The dining table was also laden with delectable vanilla- and strawberry-iced cookies, delicate cupcakes decorated with pink floral designs, and the masterpiece — a scrumptious strawberry shortcake created by Food Design of Greenwich, Conn.

Amidst the bundle of baby gifts were: a cashmere blanket from Scotland; baby duds from Jacadi; Tiffany & Co.’s silver rattle and spoon; a Bugaboo stroller; a Lilly Pulitzer baby outfit; bedding from Bellini; and a Playtex Embrace Breast Pump System, an innovative, double electric pump that combines varying suction levels with a gentle massaging motion and feels unbelievably natural—like a suckling infant’s mouth. Go baby!

In honor of the arrival of baby Emily-Reese, our editor-in-chief has newly named herself “MOMA” (as in the Museum of Modern Art). “The G word just seems so old-fashioned,” she explained. Oh, baby, watch out. MOMA will show you the good life!
