Celebs turned out to officially open the Caron Foundation’s New York City Recovery Center on East 58th Street, which will specialize in the treatment of adolescent drug and alcohol addiction through music, dance, art, and the involvement of family members, in an attempt to “de-stigmatize” treatment. The nonprofit Foundation, established in the 50s by recovering alcoholic Richard Caron and his wife, Catherine, treats over 4,000 patients nationwide and abroad.
Present for the gala introduction of “recovery as a creative outlet” were a sincere Mayor Bloomberg; a bubbly Liza Minnelli; MTV’s Quddus, VJ host of Total Request Live; Sopranos’ cast members Michael Imperioli and Vincent Curtalo; and Nathan Lane. When we asked the irrepressible Lane to hold up a copy of The Sheet (which happened to feature a cover photo The Boy From Oz star Hugh Jackman) for a snapshot for The Sheet’s Web site, he posed and quipped, “Oh, they’re going to think we’re a couple!” Not!
