It takes a village to raise a child, and NYC is not your average village. This year’s Pencil Gala and Awards Dinner, held at Cipriani Wall Street, was
appropriately themed Imagine What We Can Do. Celebrities, business leaders, and NYC Public School principals have banded together to inspire and mentor today’s kids.

Matthew Broderick, Liam Neeson, Leonard Lauder, and NYC Schools Chancellor Joel Klein presented awards to honorees Robert FX Sillerman, Napoleon Barragan, Terry Lundgren, and Principal Mary Burke for their extraordinary commitment, leadership, and energy.

The program’s popularity has soared, reaching over 500 schools throughout the boroughs. With today’s powerhouse professionals leading by example, students are looking forward to a very bright future.
