There was a chic mystique at Cipriani 42nd Street as a fashion-forward crowd gathered for the annual luncheon and fashion show benefiting New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, this year previewing the Fall/Winter 2005/06 Valentino Collection. The event raised nearly $500,000 for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, founded in 1799 as the Lying-In Hospital, the first of its kind devoted to the care of women in childbirth in the city.
This fall, on NYC streets, look for: small, fitted Valentino jackets with feminine curves, peak lapels, fur sleeves, and late 19th-century–style pockets; chemisiers (blouses) worn both day and night; voluminous capes; and skirt lengths above the knee.
Viewing the latest designer duds: Renée Belfer, Sara Ayres, Nathalie Kaplan, Mara Landis, Sloan Barnett, Cynthia Lufkin, Pauline Pitt, Heather Mnuchin, Jessica Seinfeld, Ruth Stanton, New York-Presbyterian Hospital CEO Dr. Herbert Pardes, and Dr. Frank Chervenak.
