Three exceptional New Yorkers—David Koch, Dr. George Bosl, and Jamie Niven—were recognized for their achievements in corporate leadership, medicine, and philanthropy at The Society of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center’s Awards for Excellence at Sotheby’s. The event attracted an A-list roster of NY society, whose cutting-edge couture made the event a must-see fashion parade as the lovely ladies swirled their floor-skimming ball gowns across the dance floor. Chair Constance Casey wore a black gown infused with a splash of color—a pink wrap by the Swiss designer Akris. Chair Mary Davidson warmed up the room in a Jackie Rogers apricot tiered gown with coral jacket and diamond brooch. And Kitty Sherrill was clad in a jaw-dropping backless gray halter dress by Sybilla of Madrid.
Coco Kopelman, radiant in Chanel’s sleek pale-pink gown, greeted guests with these words: “Bonsoir, buonasera, and welcome. Ours would not be the world-renowned institution it is without the work of so many.” The belle of the ball was, of course, referring to the evening’s honorees, as well as the many individuals in the room who have selflessly given their time in the crusade against cancer.
