Jennifer Connelly and Paul Bettany

The flashbulbs were blindingly bright as stars strode up the red carpet at Clearview Chelsea West Cinema for the premiere of Dark Water. Based on a film by the Japanese creators of the blockbuster horror flick The Ring, the psychological thriller features Jennifer Connelly as young, newly separated mother Dahlia Williams, who moves herself and her five-year-old daughter Ceci (played by newcomer Ariel Gade) into a new, though somewhat-dilapidated apartment. As relations between Dahlia and her estranged spouse become increasingly strained, her mental state becomes precarious and her apartment seems to take on a life of its own, complete with a mysterious leak of dark water in her bedroom ceiling that leaves Dahlia wondering who is behind the mind games. The summer hit also stars Pete Postlethwaite, Perla Haney-Jardine, Tim Roth, Camryn Manheim, John C. Reilly, and Dougray Scott.
