World-class designer Chie Imai, exclusive furrier to Japan’s royal family, stunned an A-list audience with her fantasy furs at Royal Chie’s 30th-anniversary fashion show at the St. Regis Roof.

The fashion diva paraded her sexy new collection in two dazzling shows that benefited the Christopher Reeve Foundation and Operation Smile. The runway was filled with feminine, lightweight and colorful furs (her signature coloring technique is known as “Mosaique de Chie”), a departure from the classic dark-and-heavy styles of other furriers.

This year the runway was awash with purple hues (regarded as a noble color since ancient times in Japan) and Chie’s signature craftsmanship—as in her tuxedo style, the use of Hakata-ori (a superb Japanese textile), as well as embroidery and beading.

The collection included luxe designs using the highest-quality Russian broadtail, along with other first-rate furs like Russian sable, lippy cat, chinchilla, marten, and lynx—ranging from $1,600 to $316,700.
