Phil Dusenberry, Charlie Miesmer

Friends and colleagues of ad legend Phil Dusenberry gathered at the Whiskey in the W Hotel to toast his insightful read, Then We Set His Hair on Fire (Portfolio Hardcover), hosted by Fast Company, BBDO, and Portfolio. The former chairman of BBDO North America, who began his career with the company as a copywriter in 1962, has over 40 years of experience in advertising and an induction into the Advertising Hall of Fame. The adman has been fondly nicknamed "P. Doozy" by his associates, but now prefers "Doozy." Sound familiar?

Dusenberry has an impressive list of campaigns under his belt, including: Ronald Reagan's 1984 re-election effort and the Michael Jackson/Pepsi campaign-the title of the book gives a nod to the famous incident in which Jackson's hair caught fire while filming one of the commercials.

Readers are taken on an exciting ride through his illustrious career, with pages packed with witty anecdotes, while sharing his secrets of the trade. The book also includes Dusenberry's work on slogans like: "Its Not TV, It's HBO"; "Visa, It's Every-where You Want to Be"; and Gillette's "The Best A Man Can Get."

A must-read for "those in the know" and "those who wanna be!"
