There was a huge turnout for a vital cause when the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (established by Evelyn Lauder back in '93) held its annual Symposium and Hot Pink Luncheon at the Flagler Museum.

Dr. Larry Norton moderated an eye-opening panel discussion, "New Approaches to Controlling Breast Cancer: Attacking the Molecules That Make Breast Cells Cancerous." Acclaimed cartoonist and author Marisa Acocella Marchetto (whose graphic novel, Cancer Vixen, has given a fearless voice to women battling this dreadful disease) made a special appearance. Other pink-ribbon supporters included Bruce Springsteen, Emilia Fanjul, Leonard Lauder, Mary Alice Pappas, Regina Porten, Robert Curcio, Myra Biblowit, Gillian Gilmour, Jackie Drexel, Jeannie Pearman, Charlotte Kellogg, Liz Schuler, Kit Pannill, Pat Cook, Jesse Araskog, and Betsy Green.
