A string of New York’s Movers & Shakers merrily lit up the Holiday Party at the dazzling Fifth Avenue triplex penthouse of singer/songwriter (and Clinton Pardongate player) Denise Rich. All eyes feasted on the walls (adorned with priceless works of art, ranging from Schnabel to Picasso), and windows (through which a festive winter wonderland of frosted trees and Central Park skaters were visible). The upstairs was transformed into a disco deluxe; the down-stairs had morphed into a virtual crafts studio with a figurine sculptor shaping individualized party favors and a tattoo artist decorating guests. On the main floor behold! — the banquet spread with scrumptious dishes and desserts, and champagne flowing freely throughout. It was the Decadent 80s all over again, embodied by four high-kicking Radio City Rockettes, hired by Denise to liven up the celebration.

The “rich” guest list sparkled with celebrities and a variety of luminaries: John and Margo Catsimatidis; banker-turned-rocker Ivan Wilzig; former NY Ranger Rod and Judy Gilbert; skin care guru Peter Thomas Roth and wife, Noreen; Helene Benhamou; FOX New Channel’s Rita Cosby; Lisa Gastineau; Vanity Fair’s George Wayne; Marty and Cornelia Bregman; Barbara Tober; Bryan Bantry; Nicole Miller; Janice “P. Diddy’s mom” Combs; M•A•C Cosmetics Prez John Demsey; Sirio Maccioni; a slimming Star Jones; Democratic strategist Robert Zimmerman; Chairman and CEO Howard Lutnick of the 9/11-decimated Cantor Fitzgerald; health and arts philanthropist Iris Cantor; and Don Trump Jr. with model/lady love Vanessa Haydon and Bonnie, her beautiful mother (they-could-be-girlfriends!).

Songstress and newly single Liza Minnelli, touched by the holiday spirit, showed her youth as she spiritedly hummed and sang along to the Christmas music while chatting up friends and looking vibrant, although a tad on the plump side. (Since her younger “ex” took his control away, the weight appears to be on the come-back.) Actor Gabriel Byrne also waxed sublime to The Sheet about his latest venture, a three-month shoot in Africa for a new love story titled Wahwah.

A very close call (too close for comfort) was avoided at the elevator when former Clinton-Cabinet-member-New-York-State-gubernatorial-candidate Andrew Cuomo left the party only seconds before Man Ray co-owner Bruce Colley arrived! After Cuomo’s furious (I’m-the-wronged-one-here) accusations last summer about Colley’s affair with soon-to-be ex-wife, Kerry Kennedy (who already dropped the Cuomo name), many party guests wiped their brows in relief as the two ships literally passed in the night. We couldn’t help but wonder if our hostess, Denise, had a deft hand in this masterful scheduling coup, giving Cuomo invaluable insider information (no, not the kind the feds like to get their hands on). We wouldn’t have wanted to over-season this already over-the-top holiday party with too much Christmas spice!
